Last week Species360 Conservation Science Alliance (CSA) members Rikke Øgelund Nielsen and Jacqueline Juergens attented the 6th European Congress of Conservation Biology (ECCB) in Prague. The Congress was hosted by the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) and organized by the Society of Conservation Biology. More than 800 participants from 45 countries from the entire world attended to discuss the Biodiversity crisis in a changing world.
The CSA presented the following talks:
- Diving into a world of data: Marine and freshwater fishes in zoos and aquariums in the session on interdisciplinary approaches to conservation about fishes in the international trade and how these overlaps with the 3177 species of fish across 533 Species360 member institutions, presented by Rikke Øgelund Nielsen.
- Birds in gilded cages: An investigation of the illegal trade of wild songbirds in the EU at the symposium on Conservation & Law: perspectives for the Post2020 Biodiversity Framework and the EU-Nature Conservation rules about the trade of songbirds into the European Union, presented by Jacqueline Jürgens
