Andrew Mooney is the recipient of a 2018 Fulbright Irish Student Award, worth $16,000. The Irish Fulbright Awards provide grants for Irish citizens to research, study, or lecture in the USA.

As a Fulbright Student to the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research, and under the supervision of Dr. Oliver Ryder, Andrew will work on the pioneering efforts to conserve global biodiversity through the development of a prioritization protocol for the collection of genetic samples from endangered species to be banked in cryogenic storage facilities globally.

The Fulbright Program is one of several United States Cultural Exchange Programs whose goal is to improve intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy, and intercultural competence between the people of the United States and other nations through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills.
