Aligning the global zoo and aquarium community with CITES – CSA speaks at CITES CoP18

On Sunday 18 August, WAZA hosted a side-event at the CITES CoP18 in partnership with The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), San Diego Zoo Global Wildlife Conservancy and Wildlife Conservation Society.

More than 140 delegates attended the event titled “The global zoo and
aquarium community aligned with CITES” and examined the role zoos and aquariums play in helping to advance the conservation goals of CITES.

Speakers at the side-event included Mr. Mpho Tjiane from South Africa’s Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries and the National Zoological Garden, Dr. Peter Paul van Dijk from the Turtle Conservancy and Dr. Dalia Conde from Species360 Conservation Science Alliance.
