…The Granby Zoo is home to more than 1,500 animals, including several endangered wildlife species. Out of nearly 230 species present in Granby, some forty are identified as vulnerable or at risk of extinction, explains Patrick Paré, biologist and director of conservation and research at the Zoo.
The Zoo is part of a group of approximately 1,200 zoos and aquariums that curate species information using the Zoological Information Management Software (ZIMS). This vast international computerized system allows each institution to record information about their individuals and to consult those of others. Records of more than 10 million animals from all over the world are listed.
